From Regulation to Readiness:

How the IPA and Personr prepared Australian accountants for Tranche Two

“Personr has been proactive, knowledgeable, and genuinely committed to supporting the accounting profession through a period of significant change.”

Professor Andrew Conway

IPA Group Chief Executive Officer

Ahead of the Tranche Two Anti-Money Laundering (AML) reforms, the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA) partnered with Personr to help members navigate new AUSTRAC obligations.

The partnership helped increase AML awareness, education, and practical readiness for Australian accountants.

The Pisani Group, a South Australian accounting firm and Personr customer, was among the members introduced to Personr through the IPA.

The Challenge

What was the Tranche Two impact?

Over the past year, Tranche Two industries, including accountants, have come under AUSTRAC regulation for the first time.

This has been a costly and time-consuming challenge for Australian accounting firms that provide designated services.

The new obligations have required firms to train employees on their responsibilities, appoint a compliance officer, and implement new processes and safeguards to ensure compliance.

The Partnership

How did Personr and the IPA help accountants prepare?

To help prepare members for Tranche Two, the IPA partnered with Personr in November 2025.

According to the IPA, Personr stood out for its strong AML expertise, Australian market focus, and ability to simplify complex regulatory requirements for members.

Through the partnership, IPA members were provided with access to high-quality AML education, resources, and technology solutions, which helped them prepare with confidence while maintaining a focus on serving their clients.

Reflecting on the partnership, Professor Andrew Conway, IPA Group Chief Executive Officer, said:

“Personr has been proactive, knowledgeable, and genuinely committed to supporting the accounting profession through a period of significant change.”

“We also value the story behind Personr, a business built from a real-world experience with identity theft and a desire to help prevent fraud and financial crime. That purpose resonates with the IPA and our members, and we appreciate their willingness to engage directly with the profession and contribute to the broader AML education effort."

The collaboration between Personr and the IPA stands as a strong example of how professional bodies and industry partners can work together to deliver value to the accounting profession.

The Solution:
The Solution:

What solution was provided?

What solution was provided?

To help accountants prepare for 1 July, and meet their AML obligations, the IPA and Personr collaborated on a range of initiatives.

Together, they delivered AML workshops, conferences, and webinars to help IPA members prepare for their obligations.

These initiatives have given Australian accountants practical implementation knowledge and opportunities to ask questions as they assess how best to meet their AML obligations.

The Results:

What results did IPA members see?

IPA members have praised the industry body for its commitment to providing clear guidance and practical demonstrations, along with the opportunity to better understand the technology options available to support AML compliance.

IPA member the Pisani Group, a prominent accounting, bookkeeping, and business advisory firm based in South Australia, was introduced to Personr through the IPA's National Congress.

Before adopting Personr, the firm faced the same challenge as many others: figuring out how to meet new AML obligations without adding significant manual work for staff or friction for clients.

"Personr was firstly introduced through the IPA conference in Hamilton Island. The information provided was very informative with our obligations in relation to AML," the Pisani Group said.

Since adopting the platform, the firm said it has found it straightforward for both staff and clients to use.

"The team have found the software for Personr very easy to use, the clients also find the [onboarding] link user-friendly," the accounting firm's spokesperson said.

The Pisani Group is just one example of how the partnership between Personr and the IPA has supported the profession as it adapts to a significant regulatory shift.
